Non Scale Victories

In the weight loss world, there are these wonderful milestones along the journey called non scale victories, or NSV for short.

Tonight we went to a basketball game at the university near our house.  I walked through the (old school style) turnstyle without even first considering that I might not fit.  We proceeded to our seats, which I could fit in without discomfort, even still wearing my coat.  It was such a nice realization, once I sat down, that I didn't actually have to pre-calculate my own steps.  In the past I would think about everything from the perspective of someone who knew she wouldn't fit in the space(s) provided.  That was mentally and emotionally exhausting. Today I was able to just go and enjoy my time at the game.  What a nice feeling!

These are small steps but they are milestones all the same.  This journey is long and arduous at times.  I often feel exhausted and lately have also been feeling sort of isolated.  Focusing on the small, positive moments and NSVs really helps keep the blues at bay.

Today I Ran

I actually ran today--have been running here and there when the need arises.  But today was for fun, for desire.  I was out walking my little dog and it was cold.  She has boundless energy so running seemed like the thing to do. I made it all the way down the block before stopping.  I was casually out of breath but not truly winded.  It felt great.  I feel great!

10 More Pounds

I've got just under 10 lbs to go before I've officially lost 100 lbs!  That will be an awesome day!
